New City Hall Now Open!
This new City Hall, located at 601 Historic Route 66, had been used for years as a warehouse for vending machines, and needed extensive repairs and remodeling before it could serve its new function. The interior was mostly gutted. New insulation was added to the ceiling area and the perimeter walls. The exterior was mostly left in its original state with new windows, new metal roof, shutters, planters and a flag pole being added to make the exterior look attractive but not take away from the historical characteristics of the building. This renovation includes offices for city employees, the mayor, mechanical rooms, new Council Chambers/Courtroom, employee break room, a new reception and waiting area. The Utility Bill drop box has already been moved to the new location, and has been positioned to allow for drive-through operation. The old City Hall will be used to house the City Police Department, which had been located in rented space in Town Field Plaza.
