The City of Waynesville is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Electric Groundsman to support our Electric Department. This full-time entry level position assists line crews with the construction, maintenance, and repair of the city’s electrical distribution system.

 Position: Electric Groundsman
Status: Full-Time

Location: City of Waynesville Electric Department

 Key Responsibilities

·         Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical lines

·         Load/unload materials, tools, and equipment

·         Operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment

·         Set poles, dig holes, and backfill trenches

·         Maintain safe work zones and direct traffic as needed

·         Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment

·         Respond to outages and emergency call-outs, including after-hours

·         Follow all safety policies and procedures

 Qualifications

·         High school diploma or equivalent

·         Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred or ability to obtain)

·         Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

·         Ability to perform physically demanding labor (lifting, bending, climbing, standing)

·         Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn

·         Electric utility experience preferred but not required
