The City of Waynesville is seeking a skilled, safety-focused Journeyman Lineman to join our Electric Department. This full-time position is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of the City’s electrical distribution system, including overhead and underground lines. The ideal candidate is experienced, dependable, and committed to maintaining high safety and service standards while working independently or as part of a crew.

 Position: Journeyman Lineman
Status: Full-Time (On-Call Eligibility)

Location: City of Waynesville Electric Department

 Key Responsibilities

·         Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical distribution systems

·         Perform pole setting, line construction, transformer installation, and service connections

·         Troubleshoot outages and restore power safely and efficiently

·         Operate bucket trucks, digger derricks, and other specialized equipment

·         Perform energized line work in accordance with safety regulations

·         Maintain safe work zones and ensure compliance with all safety policies

·         Respond to after-hours emergencies and outage call-outs

 Qualifications

·         Completion of a recognized lineman apprenticeship program

·         Current Journeyman Lineman certification

·         Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred or ability to obtain)

·         Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems and safety standards

·         Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

·         Ability to perform physically demanding work, including climbing and lifting
