Waynesville, MO β€” The City of Waynesville proudly recognizes Officer Shana Player of the Waynesville Police Department for receiving an Merit Award for Excellent Arrest for her outstanding actions in the line of duty.

The award was presented by Mayor Sean A. Wilson during the January 15, 2026 City Council Meeting, on behalf of a recommendation from the City of Waynesville and the Waynesville Police Department to the American Police Hall of Fame.

Officer Player’s actions during the incident demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to public safety. Her arrest not only prevented further harm but also helped ensure the safety of the community as well as the individual involved. Her decisive response is credited with saving lives and exemplifies the highest standards of law enforcement service.

β€œOfficer Player’s actions reflect the dedication and integrity expected of our officers,” said Chief of Police Dan Cordova β€œThis arrest is a clear example of how proper training, professionalism, and compassion can protect lives and keep our community safe.”
