Waynesville, MO β€” April 7, 2026 β€” Waynesville Municipal Utilities has received national recognition for achieving exceptional electric reliability in 2025. The recognition comes from the American Public Power Association (APPA), a trade group that represents more than 2,000 not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities.

APPA helps electric utilities track power outage and restoration data through its subscription-based PowerTRX Reliability service. Each year, APPA’s Reliability Team compares this data to national statistics tracked by the U.S. Energy Information Administration across all types of electric utilities.

β€œI am continually inspired by the unwavering commitment of public power utilities to delivering reliable service to their communities,” said Adrienne Lotto, Senior Vice President of Grid Security, Operations, and Technical Services. β€œThe utilities honored here have set the standard for excellence and dedication, ensuring that families and businesses can count on their local power providers every day. Congratulations to these outstanding teams for earning this well-deserved recognition and for making a positive difference where it matters most.”

Nationwide, the average public power customer experiences less than half the outage time compared to customers served by other types of utilities.

β€œWe are proud to receive this recognition. It is a testament to the hard work of all our staff to ensure that we keep Waynesville powered,” said John Doyle, City Administrator for the City of Waynesville.

Waynesville Municipal Utilities recorded an average outage time of 62.45 minutes in 2025, significantly lower than the national average of 169 minutes for all U.S. electric utilities.

We commend our dedicated linemen, apprentices, and groundsmen in our Electric Department, as well as the collaborative efforts of all Public Works departments working together to keep Waynesville’s lights on.
