The City of Waynesville has been made aware of scam phone calls targeting utility customers.
β οΈ Scammers are posing as City of Waynesville utility representatives and claiming your bill is past due. They may threaten immediate disconnection unless payment is made right away.
π« Remember:
Scammers claim that your service will be cut off unless you pay right away.
Unusual payment methods are usually requested using prepaid cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers, which are hard to trace and recover.
Scammers may fake the CALLER ID to make it look like they are calling from a legitimate utility company.
β How to Protect Yourself
βοΈ Hang up on suspicious calls
βοΈ Contact the City of Waynesville Utility Department using the number on your bill
βοΈ Never share personal or payment information to unsolicited callers.
π If you believe youβve been targeted or affected, please contact the Utility Department and check your account status and report the incident to local authorities.
π Please share this post to help protect others in our community.

A significant winter weather event is forecast to impact our area beginning Saturday morning and continuing through mid-day Sunday. Snow accumulations and hazardous travel conditions are expected.
To help our snow plow crews safely and efficiently clear roadways, we ask residents to:
π Stay home if travel is not necessary
π ΏοΈ Move vehicles off the roadway, including street parking, so plows can fully clear roads. The attached image is of a Waynesville neighborhood, where a snowplow was unable to clear the roadway due to vehicles in the roadway.
β οΈ Be especially mindful in hilly and high-risk areas, where conditions may worsen quickly
Our Public Works teams will begin pre-treating hills and other priority areas on Friday to prepare for the storm.
Your cooperation helps keep our crews safe and allows them to do their jobs effectively. Thank you for helping us keep our community safeβplease stay tuned for updates and stay safe this weekend! βοΈπ

Waynesville, weβre growing fast! π± To keep up with our community development, we need your help.
Weβve launched WardFinder, a quick tool to help you identify your elected officials and verify your Ward. π² Scan the QR code on the image to get started.
Not only will you get direct access to your representatives, but youβll also be helping the City collect vital data to fix uneven population growth through accurate redistricting.
Make your voice heard today! π£οΈ
